Laney Schulz is a Biomedical Engineering major from Hanover Township, PA. She shares why she chose to attend Catholic University and the School of Engineering, and what advice she has for prospective students.
Why did you choose to attend Catholic University and the School of Engineering?
"I chose to attend Catholic University and to major in Biomedical Engineering for many reasons. I knew I wanted to be in the city for the many internship opportunities it would bring. I also knew being in the city would lead to new experiences, as there is always something to see or attend. Campus has lots of green space, which might surprise you with being in the city, and is overall really beautiful. Also, when I first stepped foot on campus, everyone was so welcoming and kind, which made it really feel like home."
Why do you want to be an engineer?
"I want to be an engineer because growing up my favorite subjects were always math and science, and I loved problem solving and thinking outside of the box. I also knew I wanted a profession that I would be able to help others, so I believe that engineering is the perfect fit to combine everything that I love."
What's been your favorite part of being a student at Catholic University?
"My favorite part of being a student at Catholic University is the people! Everyone here is so kind and friendships are made so fast. That is something I especially appreciate being an engineering major because it is not competitive at all, but rather everyone is supporting each other and wants everyone to succeed."
What advice would you give to prospective students?
"Everything is going to be alright. Whether you're having a difficult time picking a school or whether you are nervous to start this new adventure in your life, everything is going to work out."
