Important Dates

Deadlines for registration (add/drop), resolving Incomplete grades, and withdrawing from courses are given in the University's Academic Calendar for each semester.

Doctoral Comprehensive Examinations in the fall of 2026 will be held on October 15 and 16, 2026.

College of Engineering, Physics, and Computing deadlines related to graduation are given below (note that Summer and Fall deadlines have changed to match new University policies):

    • For Spring 2026 graduation:
      • All Engineering doctoral dissertation defenses must occur on or before Friday, April 24, 2026 (the scheduling request form must be submitted at least one month before the defense).
      • All Engineering master's theses must be delivered to readers for review by Friday, April 24, 2026.
      • The last day to deposit an approved doctoral dissertation or master's thesis with the Office of Graduate Studies is Friday, May 1, 2026. An appointment must be made to deposit a thesis or dissertation.
      • Last day for Spring 2026 graduation candidates to submit a diploma application is Friday, March 6, 2026 (use Cardinal Station).
    • For Summer 2026 graduation:
      • All Engineering doctoral dissertation defenses must occur on or before Friday, July 24, 2026 (the scheduling request form must be submitted at least one month before the defense).
      • All Engineering master's theses must be delivered to readers for review by Friday, July 24, 2026.
      • The last day to deposit an approved doctoral dissertation or master's thesis with the Office of Graduate Studies is Friday, July 31, 2026. An appointment must be made to deposit a thesis or dissertation.
      • Last day for Summer 2026 graduation candidates to submit a diploma application is Friday, July 31, 2026 (use Cardinal Station).
    • For Fall 2026 graduation: 
      • All Engineering doctoral dissertation defenses must occur on or before Friday, December 4, 2026 (the scheduling request form must be submitted at least one month before the defense).
      • All Engineering master's theses must be delivered to readers for review by Friday, December 4, 2026.
      • The last day to deposit an approved doctoral dissertation or master's thesis with the Office of Graduate Studies is Friday, December 11, 2026. An appointment must be made to deposit a thesis or dissertation.
      • Last day for Fall 2026 graduation candidates to submit a diploma application is Friday, December 4, 2026 (use Cardinal Station).
