Partner with the College of Engineering, Physics, and Computing
At the College of Engineering, Physics, and Computing, we actively collaborate with sponsors, industry affiliates, and alumni to advance our shared commitment to innovation, growth, and academic excellence. Through these partnerships, we offer meaningful opportunities to support our students and programs—ranging from sponsorship of senior design capstone projects to student mentorship and engagement.
Below, you will find details on the benefits of supporting our College and contributing to the success of our future engineers, scientists, and computing professionals.
Sponsorship
Senior Design Day marks the culmination of a year-long collaboration between corporate sponsors, faculty, and senior engineering students on the Senior Design Capstone Project.
Corporate sponsors are paired with a team of three to five senior students who explore and develop viable solutions to an industry-relevant engineering challenge. Project components typically include problem definition, alternative designs, final design solutions, cost analysis, and more. Each project may be multidisciplinary or focused within a specific engineering discipline. Sponsors also engage with faculty throughout the process, fostering academic-industry partnerships and enhancing their company’s visibility and reputation within the university community. Sponsors may propose a new project or choose to support one already developed by faculty.
The Senior Design Projects span both the fall and spring semesters, providing ample time for meaningful collaboration and impactful outcomes. On Senior Design Day, student teams present their work—highlighting key findings, methodologies, and results. These final presentations are evaluated by a panel of judges composed of faculty members, alumni, and industry professionals.
-
Option 1: Propose a Project Idea
The sponsor will actively shape the project scope, objectives, and deliverables, and the project champion will work with students throughout the design process. The sponsor may designate a project champion, an individual who will meet with the students who are performing the design project and be their point of contact. Submit your idea using the Project Proposal form at tinyurl.com/SeniorDesign26 -
Option 2: Collaborate on a Project Idea
Sponsors can join an existing faculty-proposed project, contributing expertise and feedback throughout the process. This option allows sponsors to support student teams while providing real-world insights that enhance project impact. The project champion will provide guidance, feedback, and industry insights to the students. Projects will be assigned on a first-come, firstserved basis, so early submission is encouraged to secure preferred project choices. -
Sponsor a Project (Corporate Sponsorship)
Both engagement options offer sponsors the chance to collaborate with talented students, leverage University resources, and address real-world challenges within your respective industries. We welcome sponsors to choose the engagement model that best aligns with your preferences and objectives, and we look forward to facilitating meaningful partnerships through our Senior Design program.
