On Wednesday, January 15th, 2025, the School of Engineering unveiled the new David Danner Student Lounge in Pangborn Hall. The lounge, located on the ground floor, serves as a gathering place for students to study and socialize, and includes dining tables, comfortable reading chairs, whiteboards, and a small kitchenette. This new lounge provides a comfortable space in the building for students to work, relax, and engage in productive activities with their peers!
The unveiling included a ribbon-cutting ceremony honoring alumnus David Danner, Ph.D. 1982, whose generosity and commitment to the School of Engineering made this student lounge possible. Dean John Judge introduced Danner and thanked him on behalf of the School of Engineering for his generous contribution and continued support of the School. “We’re thrilled to have this new space for our students, and very grateful to David for his generosity and support” said Judge.
Danner is the founder of IDEAMATICS, Inc. which he started in 1975 to apply engineering precepts and techniques to information systems projects. He served as president and CEO until his retirement in 2024. He received a B.S. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University, a B.S. in Oceanography from George Washington University, and a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from The Catholic University of America. He also served in the United States Marine Corps from 1970 to 1972. Danner now serves as the Chair of the School of Engineering Board of Visitors, a group of corporate leaders and alumni who advise the dean and support the school philanthropically.
