Overview
The mission of the program is to provide students from Brazil with academic, internship, and research experiences in engineering while advancing their language, cultural and social skills. In addition, it will provide an additional internationalization of the engineering student body at Catholic University.
The program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to study one year at Catholic University as visiting students while they pursue their bachelor’s engineering degree at their own institutions in Brazil. In addition, the program also offers students who have completed their Bachelor's program in Brazil the opportunity to pursue a Master of Science degree in any of the engineering programs at Catholic University.

1-year Engineering Program
This program offers the opportunity to study at the School of Engineering of The Catholic University of America for one year as a visiting student. Students who completed at least two years of study in their engineering programs in Brazil are welcome to apply to the program.
Students may enroll in four or more courses during each fall (late August until early December) or spring (early January until early May) semesters, and could also enroll in one or two courses during the summer (five- or six-week or longer during mid-May until mid-August). The courses will be selected by the student and approved by the academic advisor. Proper diligences will be conducted to make sure the students could transfer these courses to their Bachelors programs in Brazil.
During the summer, students will engage in a professional or research internship in the Washington DC region. In some special cases, arrangements may be made for the student to conduct an internship at another location in the United States. The internships may include work in a variety of engineering disciplines.
The students could pursue studies in any of the engineering programs that Catholic University offers Bachelors, Masters or doctoral degrees including Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. With special permission from the academic advisor, students could also enroll in one or more courses in any of the engineering programs that Catholic University offers a Masters degree including Data Analytics, Engineering Management, and Materials Science and Engineering.

Admission Criteria
To be considered for the program, students will be required to be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in any engineering or science discipline in Brazil, preferably in their third, fourth or fifth year. Students will be selected based on their GPA (at least 3.0 out of 4.0). Students not meeting the minimum admissions requirements may receive provisional admission. Students can start their studies at Catholic University at the beginning of either the fall semester (late August to early December) or the spring semester (early January to early May).
Undergraduate students who are interested in studying at Catholic University can apply for admission to Catholic University using the non-degree Undergraduate application at https://cardinaladmissions.force.com/metro. More details of the process are available at: https://www.catholic.edu/admission/undergraduate/international-students/index.html. The students must meet all conditions required for international students and transfer students at Catholic University, and provide an essay (outlining interest in Catholic University; past academic achievements, and goals as a nondegree-seeking student), college transcripts (from the current university in Brazil), funding proof and the score results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or an equivalent English proficiency test such as Duolingo.
Masters Program
This program offers the opportunity to study at the School of Engineering of The Catholic University of America for one year and complete a Master of Science degree. Students who completed the Bachelor's program in Brazil are welcome to apply to the program.
Students may enroll in three or more graduate courses during each fall (late August until early December) or spring (early January until early May) semesters, and could also enroll in one or two courses during the summer (five- or six-week or longer during mid-May until mid August). The courses will be selected by the student and approved by the academic advisor. Students could also engage in a research project that leads to a thesis. A thesis will replace two courses, i.e., the students will only be required to enroll in eight courses. More details about the Master of Science engineering programs can be found here.
