With a career spanning more than four decades, Carrie Maslen established herself as a force in the high tech sector before she transitioned to being a consultant and coach. A proud graduate of Catholic University with a degree in mechanical engineering, Maslen serves on the Board of Visitors for the College of Engineering, Physics, and Computing.Through executive positions at Hewlett Packard, SAP, and Samsung, Maslen’s expertise encompasses global strategy, complex operations, and the development of innovative business models. Her ability to deliver revenue and lead teams across small- to medium-sized businesses (SMB) and Enterprise sectors earned her the distinction of being named one of the "100 Most Powerful Women in the Channel" six times.
Maslen’s retirement has only amplified her commitment to "paying it forward." She is passionate about mentoring the next generation of women leaders in technology. Whether as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland or a guest lecturer at the University of Chicago and Catholic University, she bridges the gap between academic theory and executive practice. A dedicated advocate, she ensures that young women in engineering have the guidance and real-world perspective to thrive in a competitive landscape.
Recently, Maslen returned to her lifelong passions for writing and art. Her creative journey culminated in the publication of her first picture book, Baking Bread with Jiddo. The story is a heartfelt tribute to her family’s roots and childhood memories of watching her grandfather bake Arabic bread.
Today, Maslen balances her professional commitments with the joys of family life. Whether she is in the garden, the kitchen, or spending time with her children and grandchildren, her life is a testament to a career well-spent and a retirement focused on the things that matter most: mentorship, tradition, and family.
