On Wednesday, October 19, 2022 the School of Engineering held its second annual Hard Hat Ceremony and Senior Design Night. The event was sponsored by Associated Builders and Contractors of Metro Washington, Bozzuto Construction, Clark Construction, Consigli Construction, and Whiting-Turner Contracting Co., and brought together over 200 alumni (including many working in the construction industry), students, faculty, University administration, and industry professionals. The guests entered Heritage Hall to find the walls lined with posters displaying the civil, environmental, and mechanical engineering seniors’ progress in the design projects which they will complete in the spring semester. Catholic University of America’s President Peter J. Kilpatrick, Provost Aaron Dominguez, and Dean John Judge, as well as Ryan Knox, Project Executive at Clark Construction provided welcoming remarks. Rev. Aquinas Guilbeau, University Chaplain and Director of Campus Ministry, blessed the hardhats with holy water before Professor Jason Davison handed one to each first-year civil and environmental engineering student.
