The workshop brought together scholars from engineering, physics, and computing to exchange ideas, identify shared interests, and explore how our collective strengths can be brought to bear on some of the most pressing challenges of our time.
In an increasingly complex world shaped by rapid technological change, meaningful progress rarely happens within disciplinary boundaries. It requires collaboration across fields, perspectives, and methods. At the College of Engineering, Physics, and Computing, our faculty are actively engaging in this kind of work, anticipating emerging societal needs and pursuing research that leads to real-world impact.
With Catholic University’s recent elevation to R1 research status, the integration of the Department of Physics into the College, and the formation of the Department of Computer Science, we are uniquely positioned to leverage the combined strengths of engineering, computing, and physics. This workshop highlighted both the power of that collaboration and the exciting potential it holds for future research and innovation.
We are deeply grateful to our faculty for their energy, openness, and willingness to think collaboratively. We are excited to see what will emerge next and to witness the continued impact our faculty have on the University, the broader community, and the world.
