Richard Kelley, Ph.D. is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Catholic University of America. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Nevada, and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Washington, where he also minored in Philosophy. He joined the Computer Science Department in Fall 2025. Prior to joining the Catholic University of America, Dr. Kelley was the senior engineer at Nevada Autonomous, the State of Nevada's FAA-designated unmanned aircraft test site operated on behalf of the Nevada Governor's Office by the University of Nevada. He also ran an Artificial Intelligence research group under Nevada Autonomous that developed software for autonomous cars, intelligent transportation systems, and LLM-based agents. His current teaching is focused on technical, philosophical, and social aspects of Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics.
