REQUIREMENT: NAVSEA SEA 05Z requires specialized professional engineering courses for the entire NAVSEA enterprise including 05U, 05V, PMS 397, PMS 320, Warfare Centers and Shipyards, providing students the option to earn professional certificates and/ or degrees within 18 to 24 months, in the following marine-based engineering area: Power Electronics.
Power Electronics - Professional certificate requires successful completion of the three (3) core courses and two (2) electives, five in total. MS degree (EE - Power Electronics) requires successful completion of the three (3) core courses and six (6) electives, nine courses total – 30 credit hours.
With Educational Services Agreement (ESA) (Dec 2020 – beyond) and an associated NAVSEA/Catholic University contract, the ESA supports 10 students per course.
BS degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred; but the following disciplines could qualify:
>BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
>BS degree in Industrial Engineering.
>BS degree in Electronics Engineering.
>BS degree in Communications Engineering.
>BS degree in Physics.
>If have completed courses in circuits (resistors, capacitors, inductors), electronics (transistors, diodes, and semiconductors), and have some knowledge in electromagnetics could qualify.
