Program (Technical) Elective Courses
Program (technical) elective courses enable students to build on their fundamental mechanical engineering knowledge, develop new skills, and specialize in a technical area: aerospace engineering, automotive engineering, energy, biotechnology, materials, robotics, or areas closely related to the mechanical engineering field. New elective courses will require academic advisor consent and chair approval.
General Technical Elective Course
Any 300-level or above ME, ENGR, CSC, EE, BE, CEE, DA, MSE, MATH, PHYS, CHEM or BIOL course with academic advisor consent and chair approval.
Liberal Study Courses
Any two courses from the following list would be acceptable.
Literature/Fine Arts/Social Science Course
Any course from the following list would be acceptable.
Guidelines for Courses at Other Institutions
- Winter term courses from consortium universities, both in-person and online, could be considered towards degree requirements. Only one such course per student could be considered. Winter courses from non-consortium universities could not be considered towards degree requirements.
- Self-paced courses from other than consortium universities will not be accepted on a general basis unless approved by the majority of the faculty of the Department.
- Online design courses, with the exception of an ENGR 102-equivalent one, could not be transferred towards the program.
- Online laboratory courses could not be transferred towards the program.
