Dr. Vladimir Kirnosov is a Lead Software Engineer at Capital One. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from The Catholic University of America in 2016. Dr. Kirnosov’s primary research interests include machine learning, pattern recognition, digital image processing, algorithm design, and software development. During his time at Catholic University, his research focused on improving space weather forecasting, leading to the development of an automatic detection algorithm for tracking Coronal Mass Ejections in images captured by NASA’s STEREO spacecraft. He also worked at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), where he contributed to a research group dedicated to developing and refining software for automated cardiac image retrieval and analysis.In the industry, Dr. Kirnosov brings extensive experience in software development and leadership from leading companies such as Cvent, Oracle, and Capital One. At Capital One, he leads an engineering team in building robust, scalable, cloud-based solutions that address complex business challenges in web data analytics, personalization, experimentation, digital experiences and marketing. He plays a key role in guiding architecture, design, and technology decisions, while championing engineering best practices and fostering a culture of innovation. Dr. Kirnosov is highly skilled in full-stack development, distributed microservices, and emerging technologies. He actively mentors engineers, participates in technology communities, and drives the adoption of cutting-edge AI and cloud-based solutions to modernize enterprise software.
His professional career also includes designing large-scale, resilient software systems, improving software engineering processes, and delivering impactful, innovative products at scale. Dr. Kirnosov’s current research and development efforts focus on leveraging modern cloud infrastructure and advanced AI technologies to transform enterprise systems and propel business growth.
