    Dr. Rick Thompson is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) and within the Graduate Engineering Management Program (EMP) at The Catholic University of America (CUA).  Prior to this position, he served CUA in multiple roles, including as a Graduate teaching and Research Assistant, as a teaching Fellow, as an Adjunct Instructor, Assistant and Associate Adjunct Professor, as a Visiting Assistant Professor, as well as having utilized his extensive professional background in the Architecture-Engineering-Construction industry when supporting research endeavors as a Consultant and Subject Matter Expert (SME).  His teaching and research interests combine his education and professional backgrounds and focus on performance improvement in the construction industry from both the technical and financial/managerial perspectives, and are informed by his mega-project experience and multi-billion dollar project portfolio.  Rick holds a Bachelor of Science in Design (Architecture) from Arizona State University, A Master of Architecture from the NewSchool of Architecture and Design, an M.B.A from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, and a M.S.E. (Engineering Management) and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from CUA.
