Chizua Agupusi, Catholic University '24, is a Mechanical Engineering student from Anambra, Nigeria. He accepted a job as a Mechanical Engineer at Newport News Shipbuilding, Huntington Ingalls Industries.

How did your School of Engineering and Catholic University education help you find this career path?

"I received this job through attending a career fair on campus. In addition, Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) has a partnership with CUA, which helped me land this opportunity."

What activities were you involved in during undergrad?

"I was involved in the Honors program and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). I was also the Club Soccer President and a Research Assistant in the Department of Mechanical Engineering."

What were some highlights of your time at The Catholic University of America?

"Building our model airplane for our senior design project. I got to use a lot of concepts I learned from class, in real life, to help build it."

What advice do you have for students during their own job search?

"Think of it as a process, you don't have to get your dream job as your first job. Rather, you should focus on getting an internship at a company or doing projects and research with professors at CUA, to help build your experience and then ultimately land your dream job."
