Daniel Murphy joined the Architect of the Capitol in 2002 to support the mission of the agency to serve Congress and the Supreme Court, preserve the historic facilities entrusted to its care, and provide memorable experiences to Members of Congress, their staff and the general public.

Dan is the Assistant Superintendent for the Facility Operations Division within the House Office Buildings jurisdiction. In this role he supports the House of Representatives through management of the mechanical, electrical and elevator systems. Additionally, he manages the sustainability, energy conservation, fire protection and environmental compliance responsibilities within the House Office Buildings.

Using data from various systems, the AOC uses the skills and abilities of its staff to find ways to efficiently do its business. These systems include building automation, computerized maintenance management, material ordering, and facility inspection systems.
Dan grew up in Delaware and attended The Catholic University of America, here in Washington, DC. He graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree. He returned to the university to complete a Master of Science in Engineering Management in 2010. He continues to do outreach with the university including being on the advisory board for their Civil Engineering department.

Dan enjoys baseball, travel, and visiting National Parks and has made many road trips where he has been able to combine these interests.
