Hien joined the Neuromechanics Lab at the Catholic University of America as a graduate student in the spring of 2017, after having completed her Bachelor Degree in Biotechnology from the Vietnam National University. Upon earning her Master of Applied Science in Biomedical Engineering in 2018, she decided to pursue her Ph.D. degree in the same field under the supervision of Dr. Sang Wook Lee. As a member of the Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center (RERC), her projects focus on the understanding of the mechanisms that limit the use of the more-impaired arm post-stroke in order to treat sensorimotor impairment in individuals with neurologic injury. Conducting research on stroke patients with the emphasis on the design of clinical instrumentation to perform training and examination of the efficacy of promoting neural plasticity, as well as consequential functional recovery of these patients is the goal of her research. As an avid gourmet, Hien is keen on exploring divergent cuisines with friends in her spare time.
